How to search
When I search I get a huge number of irrelevant hits
For example I wish to see whether anyone has posted on powering Starlink with a Victron router
When I use the keywords “Victron “ “Starlink” I get 20 pages of hits. None of the results discussed the subject of interest
How to narrow a search

Re: How to search
Try using the CF Custom Goolge Search, under the search menu. The short story is that it is better at ideas.

On a browser (PC), use the pull down menu under the Search Function.

Re: How to search
Q: What's the most searched word, on, both, Bing, and Internet Explorer?
A: Google.
Q: How do blind people start a word search?
A: Usually, by getting a feel for it, first.
BTW: I searched the internet, for a Rorschach test.
But, all I found were a bunch of drawings, of cruisers, having sex.

I see the same thing; that is, the "Google Custom Search" gives me results outside the forum.
My preferred method of searching is to go to Google (directly, not within the forum), then type something like "Mariner 39 site:cruisersforum.com". This way, the only results I see are CF discussions.

Re: How to search
The Google box works on my iPhone but I can not select it on my Android.
Since the OP did not specify how he was accessing CF that may be an issue.
When stuck with the Android I will Google as follows:
“Cruisersforum” yanmar 4jh water pump

Re: How to search
"Archie", the first internet search engine:
While American tech companies later capitalized, and scaled, the idea, it was a Canadian student, who first envisioned how we could find information, online.
Before ‘Google’ became a verb, there was “Archie” [after “archive”, without the “v”[, the first search engine, developed in 1990, by computer science student, Alan Emtage [a native of Barbados], at McGill University, in Montreal.
The open-source program indexed FTP archives, to make retrieving files faster, and more efficient, laying the groundwork for modern web search.

Nobody was making any money off the Internet. If anything, it was a huge sink. We were fighting the good fight. We knew there was potential. But anybody who tells you they knew what would happen, they’re lying. Because I was there...”
