Ecuador...

Ecuador shut down their borders with 24 hours notice for foreigners and 48 hours for Ecuadorians some weeks ago... so the country is pretty well sealed. The result being that some have boats there they can't get back to and some people are in the country on 90 day visas.
Yesterday I received this from friends who are in much the same boat as me... well two boats along actually....

'We are still in Peru under quarantine and curfew, all enforced by the Army, until at least March 31. Chile is a no go until mid June. But, assuming we survive this, we may have reason for hope.

Dave passed this on to us today while enroute to the US.

The gist is that the customs clock has stopped on temporary imports AND immigration will ignore visa rules for the duration. Once things are ruled normal, foreigners will have 30 days' grace period.'

Re: Ecuador...

Latest from my friends trapped in Peru...

'Ecuador is absolutely out of control. I dont think it will be safe before a vaccine, either. They have under reported their deaths by the THOUSANDS. Army have cordoned off parts of Guayaquil for house to house searches.
Quite Monty Python. "Bring out your dead!

We've no idea what's next. Its supposed to end April 26 but I expect an announcement of extension any day.'

I have been able to get written confirmation that my boat's temporary importacion permit is extended until the end of the emergency
