Yanmar 4JH3 Engine mounts Beneteau

Hi All
Any help would be appreciated before I tackle the following -
We have a beneteau 47.7 that we really love; great boat and good for a family.
The reason for the post is that I want to replace the engine mounts on the rear. I have managed to do the fronts by squeezing my hand in to the engine bay and removing the nut from the supporting bolt attaching the engine mount and then removing the actual bracket from the engine (this saves lifting the engine)
Fronts took a while but successful -

The rears are more confined and looking to do the same with these.

Has anyone done this before i.e.. removing the engine bracket from the engine once the bolts are removed from the actual engine mount.
I use chocks to ensure the engine does not sag when mount is removed,

Also the nuts on the actual engine mount are very difficult to access as they are located through a hole in the side of the GRP bulkhead that the engine sits on - It would have been better to be studs without nuts.
I have been using a flexible socket set!

If anyone has any ideas on how to make this easier please can you let me know!

Many thanks

While you are at it, Yanmar issued a bulletin regarding the engine mounts apparently due to frequent breakage. In the nutshell they recommend to replace the bottom nut with a tube.
Check it with Yanmar dealer.

Last month I purchased new engine mounts for my 4JH2E, and wasn't told anything about this bulletin by any of the 3 dealers I consulted. Can you provide some more details? Thanks.

Interesting this one, one of my engine mounts was found to be broken at that location. All mounts were replaced with new and no further issues.
It did appear the mount was way out of line to be the cause.
To replace the bottom nut with a tube of the correct length would be quite fiddly and remove any chance of fine adjustment.

Does anyone have info on the Yanmar bulletin mentioned by Levm? I've asked the Yanmar distributor here in Singapore and their list of bulletins, supposedly current, shows nothing about engine mounts. If there is truly some new advice out there I would love to get it before installing my new mounts.

Found it... Although it appears to be 10 years old...

Interesting link, although it addresses a different problem -- that Yanmar shipped a bunch of 4JHs with the 2 different flavor mounts in the wrong positions! Maybe that explains why my mounts have been in the wrong configuration for 17 years. But it sounds like Levm's bulletin is more recent and concerns the mounts actually breaking, whatever there position.

Try the whole directory -

portal.mastry.com - /bulletins/JH Series/

I did not find a bulletin for 4JH3 but there is this bulletin for 4JH4 and 4JH5 - looks to be about a year old.

Thanks for the links. I guess the bulletin should put my mind to rest -- the failed part is one digit different from my mounts, and the problem apparently is limited to saildrives. But pretty disappointing that CLLS couldn't find the info that you could.

If I interpret the fix correctly it would be good medicine for any mount using the same double nut setup.

Re: Yanmar 4JH3 Engine mounts Beneteau

Dear All
Further to my initial post I have now removed my front R&D mounts and replaced with genuine Yanmar mounts. The boat now has Yanmar mounts all around and the difference is unbelievable! Runs so smooth and even at high revs noise and vibration is really down.
