Re: bottom paint again

None whatsoever.

Re: Coppercoat Application

Re: Coppercoat Application

Not the only difference. Another big difference is that copper-loaded epoxies do not retard growth as well as traditional anti fouling paints. Maybe you boat in an area where fouling isn't much of a...

Re: Maritime Lemonade Stand- Have ya'll seen this?

The seagoing lemonade stand is clearly just the gimmick upon which he hopes to base a TV show and/or book (yeah right- "I'm tired of...

Re: Marinas Think We Are Chickens For Plucking

Correct. We are only getting one side of the story. But that doesn't stop the masses from bashing the entire boatyard industry.

Re: Ultrasonic hull cleaning...anyone, anyone...Bueller?

You understand that ultrasonic devices don't eliminate the need for anti fouling paint, right?

Re: Galvanic corrosion or Stray current? NEW PICS!!

A marine electrician should be able to run down the issue without problem.

Re: Galvanic corrosion or Stray current? NEW PICS!!

Stray current and probably a good dose of neglect. And the stray current more than likely originated aboard your boat.

Re: Add Powered Copper to Bottom Paint

Some anti fouling paints (like Trinidad "Red") have not not changed formulations, as some here have noted. It is erroneous however, to infer that all anti fouling paints use as much copper as they...

Re: Add Powered Copper to Bottom Paint

Well, in Washington, all copper-based paints will be phased out. Not a case of reducing the content in any particular product, but rather the elimination of the entire type of paint, like it was for...

Re: Add Powered Copper to Bottom Paint

Depends upon what type of paint you are referring to. Tributyl tin paints have been banned worldwide. Not all countries have ratified the treaty, so you can still get it in some places. Other paints...

There are no government-imposed limitations for copper or zinc content in anti fouling paint. Not in this country anyway.
