Cats do not plane, even when they are doing 20 knots they are still in displacement mode, they don't have a hump to climb over because of their slender hulls so more hp should result in more speed...

So if the recommended motors are 40hp, these would not be high thrust, right? Why not use what the designer recommends? Why not contact the designer for his input?
With your current motors 8.5 knots...
