Have someone at the helm while you are in each engine room. Give them commands to move the wheel 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 inches both ways and watch for any little movement.

The helm ”Teleflex” cable is connected to the tiller arm in the Starboard engine room.
In these pictures it’s the cable and bar just below the large rudder tube that connects both rudders together.

You do not have a quadrant on a Mahe 36. You have tiller arms connected to the rudder post in front of both of your engines.

I am glad you can remove the Mahe rudder when in the water. I new the foam core would hold it up in place, but using the weight of an anchor makes since and is a great idea.

I also put my knee on the wheel to hold it in place as vayacondios does.
Its so automatic now that I forget I am even doing it.

Actually, Its not a big problem. It only happened to Edmund. My fuse blew when I did the same thing, so I would have expected Edmunds autopilot fuse to blow also.

I had a similar event happen to me last year as I was pulling into a cove.
Did not realize I still had the autopilot on and as I stopped, the boat turned and of coarse the autopilot...

This is the first Rudder problem I have see on a Mahe.
The rudder post is approx 4ft. with a through bolt at the top into the steering arm.
Should have 2 white nylon bearings on...

Mahe’s are using the Furuno NavPilot 511 autopilot with a Hydraulic Linear Cylinder made by Lecomble & Schmitt to the steering quadrant.
