Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

I think last year the Marples was around $22000. Looking at the video I'd be getting that mast out pronto before the support crumbles. It is pretty obvious that it needs a whole cb trunk and perhaps...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Yes the Marples is still priced high considering sails, rigging , engine and probably everything else. . Cruising tris don't bring in a lot of money so I don't see anyone dropping in the 60,000 plus...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

I posted that one on the Searunner thread some time ago, it has been on and off the market for some time, price is dropping as reality sets in. Speaking of it would need a very careful looking over,...

I'll loan you my boat for 10 months if you spend $300,000 on it!

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

The 12 ton is a volume measurement used when a boat is documented etc.... not weight.

The tri in question looks like a Kismet which were Nicol takeoffs with different amas by a Canadian...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Depends on condition of course, Jeff sounded like he wants more room.

Mantas were the pre Searunner Tri's by Jim Brown. He carried the logo over to the later range.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

That "Manta" is a Horstman Tristar. Good boats for room.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Nope, that is the one, I haven't seen another Marples with square windows. Henderson Inlet?

If it is the same Cross Cat it showed up at Eastbay Marina around 20 years ago? Full of lumber and...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

I don't understand this question, if you are meeting the owners why wouldn't you be able to access the hatches?

Typically a wood boat should have airflow through the internal areas from bows to...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Actually the thing that worries me are the nut cases prodding boats that aren't actually for sale, ha ha!

I've actually seen that Marples out for a sail within the last couple of years, really...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

A gentle reminder to the bargain hunters..... Do not board any vessel that is not listed.

Any boat grounded on tidelands is on private property and approaching it as well as boarding is trespass...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

CSK Foamy, I'd check it out if that was my coast. If the structure hasn't broken down it is worth it.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

It doesn't have to be, a cheap boat should have cheap, err inexpensive expectations.

My thoughts on seeing something like this is that it would make a great hippy boat alternative to a Wharram and...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

This is one of the Pivers made by Cox Marine in England. They were fronted by D.H. "Nobby" Clarke, a former Spitfire pilot who went into multihull sales and wrote quite a few of the early books. The...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

These are all good finds for project boats. Someone will have fun with the tris. The Wharram is most ready to go but some won't be familiar with the nylon sheathing.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

I pretty much agree but.... the kit angle. Someone could have lopped off the bow deck mold etc... Doesn't that cabin look like someone was inspired by the Quasar? Same with the Sailcraft, I think...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

The Sailcraft cats were well made. The big one was the 45' Navaho. I thought of them but it doesn't quite look right for them. The house reminded me of what Prout did on a couple bigger models. Maybe...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

A friend of mine has one I've sailed on. Trevor took the main hull molds of a Cross 39, or 36? R and stretched them out to the banks length. The one I was on had hull steps like a Lex Nicol tri for...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Jack be "Nimble" Jack be quick...... Or is it That's a "Lodestar" off my mind. Length at 31 is wrong in both cases, more photos would help. Looks fun for somebody.
