Hi Chuckr, don't really understand the "the price was abit high" comment. I looked at a number of units and the Rainman was very competively priced, particularly in usd or euros?

I agree, permanently mounted is better. The great thing about the rainman is you can permanently mount it "when you get around to it"

It is reasonably heavy, I only have to take the membranes on...

I have a Rainman. Very happy with it and the support from the Rainman team, very professional.
