This is where you, as stand on vessel, can be chased around the ocean by a ship. Most ships have a company rule of 1 nm cpa, so if you try to increase that to 2 miles they can just come back on... |

Don, don't be naughty. Of course he's not getting his life on it. The stand on vessel has the ability to take evasive action till quite late. I certainly do make plans in case the ships crew... |

Ships do change course a long way out if the can. I have seen some make the course change at 10nms, its just a minor change at that range! The screenshot below is at 2:30 am showing 3 ships... |

Its coming in now. New York harbor approaches have AIS on the channel markers (either real of virtual, I don't know) The future there will be many. And at the cost of a physical channel marker... |
