I believe your correct. Just checked water temps before and after Irma and they dropped. They say the hurricane draws the heat from the ocean.

We live about 700 ft. from the Gulf of Mexico and yes the water temperature is unseasonably cool, but then again we've had a cool front come through since Harvey and the land temperatures also have...
