I guess there's nothing wrong with purposely sailing without an engine if that's what you want to do. But if that's so then don't let that decision affect or inconvenience anyone else.

I don't think they accepted tows but rather broadcast on the VHF that they needed a tow. I'm sure there's always a cruiser out there more than willing to stop what they're doing, jump in their dinghy...
