You had no problems with settings? I've read comments before about sentences, baud rate and such that can be an issue with 0183. Fortunately have not yet had to deal with that so not sure if these...

Sorry I couldn't give you the step by step but I'm kind of new to NMEA myself. However that link did it for me so hope it works for you.

OK. Garmin manual says it has 0183 and 2000. Haven't dealt with the 0183 personally but here's a link that might help.

Just looked at an ICOM manual and it seems it only has NMEA0183. I am getting out of my depth here but I am pretty certain to get 0183 to talk to 2000 you need an adapter to translate.

Do they both have NMEA2000 connections? Not familiar with the Garmin 547 but my Garmin 740 has a standard NMEA connector on the back. I purchased an industry standard cable and connected my...
