I recommend, in parallel, that you get some cruising guides for the regions you're considering - and not the guides given out by the charter companies. Objective guides like those by Stephen...

The locals are axe murderers. I've cruised the Spanish Virgins several times and you should not go there under any circumstances. Please stay away. You'll hate it. Your kids will hate you for it....
