My bad. Previous versions of Jeanneau performance included not only a deeper keel but a taller mast and bigger sail area. Not with the 379 that only features better sail quality and better hardware. ...

I don't think it will make any noticeable difference regarding the Oceanis 38 and the Jeanneau 379 but as I said each boat is a case. If we are talking between the Jeanneau 409 and the Oceanis 41,...

That thing about Beneteaus having the mast set back further makes no sense. It depends on the design as well as the overall performance. For instance, the Jeanneau 379 is faster than the Oceanis 38...

I guess that in what regards pounding it all depends on the model. For example I am pretty sure that a Jeanneau 409 will pound less upwind than an Oceanis 41 (both contemporary designs).

At the time the 39i come to the market I liked the boat and try to convince my wife (on a boat show) but boat storage and practical cruising aspects is her territory. She cleared vetoed the boat...

The high price is from the same reason why a First 45 is substancially more expensive than an Oceanis 45 even if the interior of the Oceanis 45 seems much bigger and nicer. The price of better masts,...

Are you not exaggerating a bit? After all the boat takes its looks from a 40 class racer and fast is beautiful....or maybe for you slow is beautiful:devil:

Maybe in the US. In Europe nobody is going to buy a Oceanis 38 to do club racing. The boat lacks all the stuff that a racer, even a club one, needs to take all the juice out of the boat, I mean...

Not really. The older Sun fast yes, the two that are made today (3200 and 3600) are much more racers then cruisers (I don't think any cruiser will buy one of those). The First 35, 45 and 50 are great...

I am pretty sure the 379 has a slightly better performance than the oceanis 38 in light winds and it is possible that upwind it has a slight advantage but when the wind build up on a beam reach and...
