I think you are overly pessimistic about what you can do with AGM batteries. AGM batteries can be discharged to 50% without losing much cycling ability. Even down to 40% won't hurt much. An 800AH...

I would think it should have been originally equipped with a bimetallic thermostat. Are you sure there is no place in the cooling circuit of the engine to install an ordinary thermostat? The cooling...
