If you don't plan on crossing oceans anytime soon and want to get into sailing, this boat would probably be a lot cheaper to buy that a "free" boat.

It's as fast as most 30 foot...

The biggest difference I think is when the money is spent.

First you have to get a good "free or low priced " boat with no soft spots.

Say it's free or $3,000 or less.

I must say that bring back a "free" boat can be fun. I've been sailing my $2,000 boat now for 8 years.. I started sailing it about a month after I bought it.

It's a Bristol though so it cannot...

Yes, I've inspected them quite often down low not at the top of the mast though since 2012

I'm thinking with the three shrouds on each side plus the backstay and forestay and oversized...

I bought my free boat for $2,000 in June 2011.

I started sailing it within a month of the purchase after a bottom job and total cleaning.

Then the diesel failed, and then another old diesel...
