What is it you don't like about the Ericson 35-3? I know the Bristol 35.5 has a PHRF of around 150 as compared to the slightly faster Ericson at 123.

Actually it does matter what size you singlehand. It's so obvious I'm surprised you'd say that.

No one has said it isn't possible.

Just getting recommendations on a good size boat for single handing. As I said before most times you can just raise and lower sails by hand on a smaller boat....

Nobody is saying it isn't possible. It's that they consider it not the best size for singlehanding.

I actually don't see a problem with singlehanding a boat 40+ but you will not be able to handle...

I was just pointing out the advantages of a smaller boat. I'm still thinking a boat from 27' to 36' or so...

Yep the Pretorian 35 is an awesome boat and about double the price of the Gladiateur. So if I bought one, I'd probably have to live on it, and I'm not quite ready for that yet.

The two boats I like now are an Ericson 35 and a Wauquiez Gladiateur 33 but both draw 6' or more which could be a problem for a novice/beginner cruiser like I am.

Yeah, but if given the right opportunity to buy a Valiant 40 it would be hard to pass up. One came in and anchored a few weeks ago at Kiptopeke. There were already 6 or 8 other sailboats anchored...
