I used to use mixed wire/braid halyards but changed over to all braid a few years ago. Since then I have had a couple of braid line splices fail under load so have stopped doing them and now taper... |

The item illustrated is a Spelter Socket for use as a termination for wire lines. The line is passed through the centre then unwound to form a broom which is pulled back inside the socket and filled... |
