Re: Affordable Care Act - catastrophic plans cancelled

ACA is a weak step, but a step. And if the parties can -gasp- work together, it can be amended as required. Hopefully unscrewing the future.

Re: Affordable Care Act - catastrophic plans cancelled

"All men are created equal" is a socialist principle. One man, one vote is a socialist principle. "Life, liberty and the purfuit of happineff" is a socialist principle. These were radical and...

-barf-

Hey, I thought we weren't supposed to engage in spewing religious dogma here.

Andrew - name ONE country that has successfully solved the healthcare puzzle (universal coverage, quality,...

Re: Affordable Care Act - catastrophic plans cancelled

I don't think that's anyone's objective though, is it? The goal is a high standard of universal healthcare, at reasonable cost. There are ways to lower costs, and a healthier population will help...

Re: Affordable Care Act - catastrophic plans cancelled

Someone's BSing, or there's missing info. There wouldn't be a 3 yr wait on a cleft palate of a newborn, unless there were medical reasons for waiting.

Re: Affordable Care Act - catastrophic plans cancelled

Yes, Canada has its share of well-off yet selfish and ill informed people too. Did you tell them that not all Americans pay cash for healthcare?

Re: Affordable Care Act - catastrophic plans cancelled

Just google "world healthcare rankings". Or any number of similar searches. How about Bloomberg (https://www.bloomberg.com/visual-data/best-and-worst/most-efficient-health-care-countries)?

It...

Re: Affordable Care Act - catastrophic plans cancelled

That link is propaganda, a joke. Can you explain why the majority of first-world countries (and several lower-tier countries too) can provide a higher level of health-care, to everyone, at a lower...

Re: Affordable Care Act - catastrophic plans cancelled

ACA is a step towards levelling access to healthcare insurance, which should bring more competition among insurers, instead of a series of fragmented non-competitive markets. There's tons of...

Re: Affordable Care Act - catastrophic plans cancelled

Another myth. Like one-percenters everywhere, very wealthy Canadians can choose to go to private health-care in the US, or Monaco, or Dubai. Usually for elective stuff like plastic surgery or joint...

Re: Affordable Care Act - catastrophic plans cancelled

To clarify, in Canada there are essentially no wait times for necessary surgery or treatment; you need a heart bypass you'll have it in a couple days, or often same-day. Elective surgery may require...

Re: Affordable Care Act - catastrophic plans cancelled

Riiight. Have you noticed that where it is either single-payer or well-regulated, healthcare is cheaper than in the US? And universal? Also, you misquoted (or misunderstood) me. When there's a...

Re: Affordable Care Act - catastrophic plans cancelled

No.

The biggest impediment to universal coverage is getting to the moral position that universal coverage is a rational and ethical goal. Universal coverage requires either a single-payer system...

Re: Affordable Care Act - catastrophic plans cancelled

Forgive me for butting in now. By way of justification, I held my tongue when you slagged Canadian healthcare, so I've given myself permission to comment on something less inflammatory.

The...
