Yes it is in double shear. I think that it does work harden as it's a pivot point. They make those fittings for other types of weaker wire configurations than 1x19. I am going to stick to what brian...

Because the pin size is tied to the turnbuckle size (when you buy new fittings). Toss is saying that the pin and the turnbuckle are undersized.

The clevis pin size is tied to the turnbuckle size which should match the wire size. 8mm (5/16) 1x19 wire gets 5/8" turnbuckle and pin. If you are reaming your chainplate holes you need to make sure...
