As a matter of interest, my steel boat does not have the compensating balls. I am not sure how much difference this makes, although I know that quite large deviations exist on some headings. |

I think the balls you are referring to are known as "kelvins balls" in most the world. They are made from soft iron. Sestrel went out of biz some years ago. However I managed to get parts for... |
