I had tried rolling on contact cement but that resulted in the foam becoming saturated with contact cement and frequently that ended up sticking unevenly.

I have used lightweight plywood with foam-backed vinyl for the headliner. As you can see I have had some difficulty getting the spray contact cement to stick. Any suggestions?
