I sail out of L.A. Harbor (Hurricane Gulch) almost every weekend and I spend most of my sailing mid channel (Catalina channel) 10 to 12 miles offshore so I'd like a decent repair but not to go...

I hate to open a can of worms but I have a 6" diameter hollow spot in front of the v berth hatch, I am wondering if I should try the fill method or cut it out from underneath and glass in a section...
