Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

I generally agree. However, in case of OD and WD the English terminology used in the UI, combined with the complexity, initially caused a lot of confusion. Both with me and Gilletarom, I think....

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Jon,
No problem at all for me. Whenever I notice something, I don't expect an immediate repair action.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Jon,

Also for OCPN Draw 2 new observations:

One string in the EBL properties window is not translated (when the windows opens, I see a Dutch text for a split second, than it becomes English)....

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Jon,
See attached picture. It seems not consequent to me that:
1. for the Boundary Anchor Alarm the GUID is shown and
2. For the AIS Guardzone the boundary name is shown.

Is it possible to...

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Jon,

See pictures for (present) Dutch texts. In blue: my underlining and remarks.

"Boat outside/inside anchor boundary area" (where in Dutch now is shown: "Afstand referentiepositie Buiten...

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

I confirm that it seems to work. Attached are the last version of the Dutch language files. But I still have this request (see a previous message):

However, in the alarm window, it now indicates...

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

I'm happy with this method. In Dutch I choose to translate the string "Anchor Alarm" as "Distance to reference position", to make it more general and to prevent confusion with the anchor...

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Attached is the last version (original English, Dutch and French only; opencpn and 9 plugins; in each column double values are indicated in red). Translators can extend this using the explanation on...

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Jon,

I'm presently carrying out simple testing of the Anchor Watch Alarm. Is the following correct:
1. When a New Anchor Watch Alarm is set, the alarm indicates the distance from vessel to...

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

In some case described by Gilletarom, I would prefer the possibility to use a route and observe the XTE (however, presently OpenCPN core has not built in an XTE alarm ....). An XTE alarm might be a...

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

I fully understand, but as you will know, you will never be able to make everybody happy.

But this is happening now, isn't it? The settings are complex already and this is caused largely...

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

What I think in relation to OCPN Draw:
1. To remove one variable: automatically draw a grid inside an Exclusion area, and a narrow one (setting 15) outside an Inclusion area. The grid then indicates...

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

I agree. The number of variables to be set is, relatively, quite high. It should be prevented that to many users trust the alarm function, without having sufficient understanding of the end result of...

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

1. I don't have sufficient time to carry out extensive testing as Gilletarom is doing, but during the simple testing I did, I think I observed that - whenever areas are close together - the line...

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Possibly I found another solution in Dutch. In both cases I now translated "Boundary Type" by "Betreft gebiedstype" ("Concerns area type").

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

In Dutch (here translated back to English) I used 'to be avoided' and 'restricting'. Possible because I hardly used the Dutch word for 'Boundary' in Draw, but instead I used 'Line...

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

And this is how it looks when I tried (see attached picture). It seems to work for both area's that have to be avoided.
