Less wear in hydraulics. The mechanical parts are allways well lubed, and the rest is fluid in the tubes. The only viable fault is with fastenings of the tubes, which if not done properly can cause...

Not having any statistics about it but I'd say hydraulic steering is somewhere around 50 times more reliable than one with wires.. Just IMHO

That's just a side effect of the issue Cadence talks about. Having small rudder needs more prop wash..

Ps. Planning boats have different issues..

That is in mild or coastal weather only. In well build up open seas the wave speed is multiples of your surfing speed. You should know, being an experienced sailor. :flowers:

Better sailing performance within the rating rule, that is whatever that happen to be.. You should take a look how Rules have influenced into boatdesign during the last one-and-a-half century era...
