As I said, I confirm Transmitterdam's remark that the tar files came out untarred afer compilation.
I expanded the GSHHG files manually in the folder, using xarchiver... (see pic)

I can confirm
Latest git version compiles fine on Rasberry PI 3 (Openplotter version), including GSHHS (see Pic)
