As i said i have had no problems with Class B targets yet...

The one popular Myth? (to my work colleagues and i at least) is the supposed "ignore" button on Class A units, at least on the Furuno...

^^^This, the only time we turn off the AIS is when the vessel is out of commision....

As for Class B vessels turning off when tied up in the marina around Australia? it just isn’t a problem yet....

Always with the sarcasm eh, obviously the only harbours you go in have only the one vessel and only in daylight....while every scenario cannot possibly be covered the obvious ones (Crowded/undercover...

Maybe so but any budding bad guy can buy a receiver and find a particular vessel, we have scenarios (drills) where the vessel is in port and is to be targeted buy unfriendly’s, one of the first...

If we ever go to Ship Security level 3 there is a provision in the Ships Security Plan for turning off the AIS, in some Ports it is also a possible requirement dependant on the circumstances. Edit:...

I have no idea why you say "your country" then post a link to the US Department of Homeland Security.....:confused:

But yes if a security incident is imminent we may have to turn the units off,...

Because any vessel that is required to fit AIS is required to show their status at all times......that’s whole point of the exercise.....
