Sounds like your in good shape then, before you get rid of the mizzen just sail for a year without using it to see if you want to go without it. I don't think there are any pros but might be some...

I have been refitting my Irwin 37 sloop for 4 years now, Its in the water but stil has a way to go. Anyways convert buy removing the mizzen mast and running a new back stay .... that's it. The main...
