One technique I have learned through much trial and error is to stop, think, and ponder. In other words, if I find some repair isn't going the way I expect, stop! Then it is usually a very good idea...

There are lots of false economies. By the way, the biggest cost differential is in the initial purchase of the boat. If you buy a boat that costs $50K instead of $250K, you will never be able to save...
