You can cut it free, its risky bussines, but in the other hand it can be your only ticket,, to be honest, you can hold the rest of the broken mast to the bow and use the windlass to tight the broken...

This is a Comet 41, quite honest the mast is there , in the middle, could be a compression post diferent? not much for me, a shiny pole in inox or a aluminium piece of mast make no diference to me....

I just found this one , could be a strong candidate for hig latitude sailing, very similar to Boreal.:biggrin: Its built by Futuna Yachts.

I never put in doubt the ability of a Pogo to sail long distance, i see they are well built and terrible fast boats, in the other hand i dont think they are the right plataform to sail long distances...
