I would suggest you stop thinking in terms of topping off. Its not important in your case.

Topping off, is important to people with huge arrays or...

No it's not hard, the certainty is that properly installed 450w of solar in the med in summer will put on average 100 ah back into your 24v battery bank over 24 hrs.

Let's not get complicated...

On the very best day 450 watts of solar with the very best mppt controller on a monohull you will add 110ah to your battery bank in 24 hrs and not more.

No it won't top things off and never will unless you have a huge array. The best it will do is make the generator run time that is dedicated to battery charge shorter.

It could be as follows.....

Lets say the monitor reads 100% when in reality its only 90%, then when all the amps are back its the amps from the 90% that are back and there is still 10% more charge...

2 things most likely are happening here...just roughly...

1 - if the charging time is reduced by 60% then the original charging concept was not adequate or optimised for this particular...

-700ah 24v batteries
-500w solar
- very efficient fridge and freezer
-250a 24v alternator, this way you can ram the power in,...
