Given the number of slots available docked vessels take up a tiny bandwidth. It's unlikely they are any sort of significant loading on the AIS bandwidth even in quite large numbers Dave |

Sorry slightly poor English. I really ment relying on these tiny displays like on the SH or icom units. Not that the unit itself was poor , SH makes really great kit. |

Re: Please turn your AIS off when docked/moored/anchored
Also Evans I wonder where you in an area where AIS class B was commanded to lower reporting levels. Hence your device might report them as missed slots. Its also worth noting that class B can be... |

Re: Please turn your AIS off when docked/moored/anchored

Re: Please turn your AIS off when docked/moored/anchored
It isnt a 'commons' issue because the 'commons' simply is huge, there is no scarce resource here . There is no tragedy. Evans had two issues (a) Too many alarms from static class B boats ... |

Re: Please turn your AIS off when docked/moored/anchored
I think at this stage all you can summarise is that the likelyhood of Class B <2Kts transmissions have virtually no demand on the available bandwidth and that they , unless in huge numbers, have any... |

Re: Please turn your AIS off when docked/moored/anchored

Re: Please turn your AIS off when docked/moored/anchored
While its useful, as a research issue, what we really need is the maths behind the probability of class B gaining access to the slots. without that the raw data isnt much use as you can draw no... |

Re: Please turn your AIS off when docked/moored/anchored
