Actually - believe it or not - they're about the same price as the hydraulic ones.. just a couple of hundred cheaper.

They don't look very convenient though - so do people constantly...

But, no inner forestay, standard masthead sloop, single backstay. Two sets of spreaders, only very slightly swept...

That one is another Lexcen 40... which was one that he designed as a cruiser - it is WIIIIDE and was quite popular with the charter fleet. Not mine though..

So what happens if you leave it set at "ok upwind performance", but not "really cranked up"... and you're in a storm? Does it really matter if you're well reefed etc -...
