I took the advice for plugging the thru hull sea side. There wasn't much water to stress over when I took hose off seacock. I still have to jump in the water...

excellent! yes, I'm in great water, I can count the blades of grass on the seabed. I could always motor to a bright sandy 6' spot to do the job so as to reduce the risk of sinking. :thumb:

One last thing, I have many wooden plugs but I'm not sure how they work (waterside) with my hull opening as there are 2 inner tabs at 180 degrees...

Actually this seacock has been stuck open for probably a few years.
The motor has been used, the water flow is good.

But, it is safe to replace the 24" section of 1" hose with an inline valve for...

The hose from the seacock to the strainer is much too old and worrysome.
