Now here's a credible case with a need for quick anchoring. Were you on the Ashley River at that anchorage where the flood tide puts you toward the 55' bridge? ....someplace else? |

I can imagine the emergency to anchor quickly. I would consider that place between Jupiter Federal Bridge an the Jupiter 707 bridge where the current is ripping and if you made it through one bridge... |

'still looking for the event where there was an emergency to anchor quickly. Sure, there is a worry in this case with the mechanical problem, but... soft bottom, no draft problem, no current... |

All good choices by Onestepcsy37 and by GILow; however, neither seemed to be in a situation of emergency. Soft mud with "onestep" and no anchoring occured with GIlow. I still think such emergencies... |

'sounds right, - my ten seconds was to have the anchor hit the bottom, not to pay out, secure, add a snubber, etc...... Still, I must say again, an emergency anchoring scenario would be a rare event.... |

An anchor emergency assumes you're in shallow water in shore an approaching some obstruction with current. I guess that if you have way on from your recent engine activity, then you still have some... |
