You may have misunderstood. Few Chesapeake Bay harbors offer more than 10 feet. This is one reason many of the sailors only carry 100' of chain; more is just wasted. It's regional. |

The question is NOT rope vs. chain, but whether a short bit of rope has special issues. So long as the rope is less than the depth there is no chance of cutting on the bottom. In this case,... |
