It could also be noted that at least one scuba tank compressor manufacturer sells their gas powered model for the same amount as their electric. Memory recalls a modest engine.....4 or 5 hp.

Can you take your generator to a store that sells the scuba tank compressor? What is on paper doesn't always match the real world. Your challenge is the compressor start up surge. If that proves...

I certainly agree that trying to regularly fill scuba tanks from solar batteries is asking for problems. It would take an almost inconceivable solar set-up on a boat.
