Yes, that approach gives lots of flexibility, use whatever tank is standard for refill/exchange at your current cruising location,

cheap enough to discard / donate when you move on,

There are tanks that can only be filled in one orientation but must be used in the other.

male ACME QCC (quick closing coupling) Type 1
