Sorry Dave misunderstood your post. We dont see many sailors going out that way. The outside of the bar is pretty shallow at the moment so I'm thinking its not worth the risk and no quicker unless...

Doable but lots of banks and changing all the time. Rough on the incoming tide in front of the bar. I would say its more of a passage to outside.
