Re: Catamaran vs Monohull Crew Safety
Wash only. It is a 4kg Camec compact washing machine that just fits the compartment. https://www.rvsupercentre.co.nz/camec-compact-4kg-washing-machine. It’s 47kg and uses around 20l water for the... |

Re: Catamaran vs Monohull Crew Safety
I’m not sure whether autocorrect problems are a win for monos or for cats. Call it a draw, with no clear victor? Kind of like both have hull or hulls that get wet. Regarding a washing machine,... |

Re: Catamaran vs Monohull Crew Safety
What you describe also takes place on monohulls: over tight sidestays will affect the bulkheads and over tight forestay/backstay can banana bend a boat. For cats though, like most things, it... |

Re: Catamaran vs Monohull Crew Safety
Regarding plants and cruising, I expect that many countries would take them and throw them away with the other quarantined rubbish and organics. So no point having any slow growing plants if you want... |

Re: Catamaran vs Monohull Crew Safety
Good on you for keeping things simple. My two immediate samples for monohull live aboard are on a Bene 41 and a Westsail 32. Both have pictures in frames and potted plants and one or the other has... |

Catamaran vs Monohull Crew Safety
It’s all anecdotes - there are no statistical facts because nobody has tried to quantify them. Probably because the rates of injury and death on sailboats are vanishingly small when compared to say... |

Re: Catamaran vs Monohull Crew Safety
Neither on our boat unless for temporary placement before knowing where they’re actually needed. Then we tie them around stanchion bases or cleats. I was making the point that we don’t use and don’t... |

Re: Catamaran vs Monohull Crew Safety
On our cat the lifelines are not used for anything other than hanging fenders - the decks are wide enough and the lifelines a long way away. Our cabin top has handrails from the aft edge forward, but... |
