Re: Tragic situation in Tasmania

I like this idea. To me it provides a big advantage to offset what I perceive to be the disadvantages of the solenoid option. (I got worried about solenoids after that article about the guys who...

Re: Tragic situation in Tasmania

Hi RC, I bought two of the dedicated CO detectors sold with the Quell brand.

I might be kidding myself, it was close to double the price of the others so I hoped that spending the extra moola...

Just to clarify my thoughts...

RC is correct in stating that we don't know where the generator was stored while running, but my reiteration of Brian's observation about the boat shape was more to...

Re: Tragic situation in Tasmania

Well, this has been an education. The Carbon Monoxide issues, while generally familiar to me, turn out to be more widespread than I had thought. I honestly felt there was no CO risk from our LPG...

Tragic situation in Tasmania

I thought we used LPG in our gas cylinders here in Oz and I believe (though I could be wrong) that burning LPG in the normal manner does not produce Carbon Monoxide.

Edit: just did a bit of...

Re: Tragic situation in Tasmania

Regardless if it turns out to be Carbon Monoxide poisoning (though it seems likely), I wonder if a sticky or some similar thread on the issue is worth considering here on C.F?

I know most of...

Re: Tragic situation in Tasmania

Actually, the ABC often indicates in their photo caption if they are using a stock photo. The caption in this case is a bit odd, so I think it is 50/50 whether either of the vessels in the photo are...
