For a lake boat I would install a gas outboard and call it good. Gas jobs deal with cold starts and short runs better ie starting and stopping within 15 min as you leave dock and raise sail. I would...

Haha, you haven’t had the pleasure of replacing an outboard ECU, stator or rectifier yet. They all seem to go at some point and all seem to cause the destruction of their neighbouring part. Rectifier...

-lack of available parts
-cracked/warped head/block or other major component with no available replacements
-lack of qualified mechanics/failed rebuilds
-cost to rebuild with chance that rebuild...
