There is no blocking of plugins. I have a lot of plugins working that I have compiled myself, for example. The "star" is only for the four builtin plugins.
A square is the icon for managed plugins,...

Are you using chart groups at all?
I never really get in to your problems as I do use chart groups to decide which charts I want to look at. It's very quick to change between the first 10 chart...

Now that ASCAT data is available as gribfiles, it would be great if O could read that dialect of grib 2 files. Test files here https://ftp.opc.ncep.noaa.gov/data/ascat_ab/.

The Route plugin has much more support for gc:s than the built in std features.

Please read my post again. The user protection against mistakes is not the same in the two cases.

So if you by mistake delete a track, you will get a pop-up where you have to confirm the deletion,...

It's already there to help you.
Right click -> Undo delete waypoint or Ctrl+Z

For tracks and routes tick the box:Options->Display->Advanced->Controls->Confirm deletion of tracks and routes

The manual does not describe the latest changes to the "Manual Select".
For example the option "Use always this area" and the way the @ button changes are not included.

It's already possible to to set the gps-units position in relation to the boat.

Go to Options->Ships->OwnShip and adjust - GPS offset from bow/midship.
This ought to take care of your problem.

Try to just untick the "Warn if...." items near the top of the AIS tab.
This should disable the AIS/CPA alarm while still letting the MOB/SART alarm
work. Please test and report back!
