placement of mast formizzen is not necesarily dependent on visualization of underwater-- ketch has mast forward of steering. yawl is abaft steering.
rudder is operative word not helm...

for gary mayo--when you hit the 60 kt chubasco winds here in mexico, you , too, will reef you rjib n jigger...and we still accomplished 8.4 kts boat speed in a FORMOSA...

dang that is a lot of area--my main mast is under 50 ft in height, and my mizzen is comparatively shorter....perfect for anywhere.

cabo ricos are excellent and awesome boats...

there is still a ct54 for sale in la cruz--is in cruising condition, and only ceased cruising at thanksgiving, 2012......niice perry design cruiser...

people who have never sailed a heavy cruiser or a ketch do not understand the ease of handling there is offered in these boats.
the trend is toward racy looking sloops --this trend will change...

jib n jigger done me well in 60 kts of wind off cabo san lucas--much better than the reefed sloop or the cutter i sailed in past history. i love mine.

souls not into racing do enjoy comfortable cruising and ease in handling. sloops do not...

drop main and use mizzen and jib nd is a lot easier than manhandling that hugeous main--if i anticipate weather or i am in a known wind zone i dont even use main. then biiiig winds are actually...

ketch rigs do not cost more than sloops. get real. price em. re-rigging doesnt have to cost the 10,000usd previous owner of this one paid to re rig her.lol..was a rape of a first boat virgin....

ketches may not be popular with the dock queen set, but there are plenty of 'em out CRUISING..funny how that is, as the sloop is not as easy to handle, size for size, as is a ketch. btdt and i know...
