No problem, the boat you are seeking exists - the Ocean Catamaran 49, the Freydis 49 and the Brazapi 51.

Re: Why Is the Manta Held in Such High Regard ?

Wow, haven't heard that one. Frankly, I don't know how that could even happen. Even with the most outrageous build problems, the design and molds are such that you would never see the sea through...

Re: Why Is the Manta Held in Such High Regard ?

That does look like Ice Wars. If the photo under the tarps came from the Manta factory, then the builder was renting the space for final fitout. Makes sense as the builder was an ex-Manta...

Re: Why Is the Manta Held in Such High Regard ?

Yes, the last few boats suffered from quality control problems and some bad build decisions. I don't know the exact production numbers. I believe hull #127 was the last built, so probably hulls...

Re: Why Is the Manta Held in Such High Regard ?

I haven't read the article, but it wasn't a Manta. I think it is the one I described earlier: Hy-Tech Marine, Inc. - FastWater 52 SailCat...

Re: Why Is the Manta Held in Such High Regard ?

Yes, by Aussie and NZ design standards they have low bridgedecks. By British standards, not so low.

The basic hull design is French - LaRouge, with modifications by Manta in lengthening the hull...

Re: Why Is the Manta Held in Such High Regard ?

Someone did buy the molds at auction and are moving them to China. I don't know his plans for them. 127 boats or so came out of those molds, which are a lot of boats for one mold. They could be...
