You know Halloween is coming up. I'm pretty sure I could get some deals on a couple gorilla costumes too. Kind of a spin off of Happys "love dungeon" idea, but it think it might...

Re: Advice on what to do with my empty engine bay.

This project shouldn't cost much. I planned on hauling it out anyways sometime early...

Re: Advice on what to do with my empty engine bay.

I actually looked into that and even made a thread on here about it back when I first bought the boat.
The answer is yes, it is possible... but it's not very efficient, or reliable and is overly...

Re: Advice on what to do with my empty engine bay.

I actually just finished replacing my chain plates and when I did that, I took the opportunity to hollow out several inches of core to refill with thickened epoxy and it definitely had a different...

Re: Advice on what to do with my empty engine bay.

That's got to be it! I am really hoping this takes the smell out. I don't mind it too much, but I hate that everything in the boat smells like it when you take it out.
I didn't make it over there...

Re: Advice on what to do with my empty engine bay.

PO did that. Looks like a jigsaw/sawzall would have made short work of it and all he did was slap some fiberglass cloth over it.
I sanded it and painted a white border on that and the whole back of...

Wise words! I think your post just solidified my decision to seal everything off.

Re: Advice on what to do with my empty engine bay.

I tried those lol...the yellow trees anyways. they worked for about 4 hours.
It's a strange smell, because it doesn't SEEM overpowering or unbearable...yet it overpowers everything I try to cover it...

Re: Advice on what to do with my empty engine bay.

I don't have the best nose, but my girlfriend mentioned that it has an old stale petroleum type smell. After she said that it kind of made sense. I think it is a combination of old diesel fuel and...

Re: Advice on what to do with my empty engine bay.

This is a pic from when I bought the boat. PO had some crazy idea about using this electric trolling motor, which was immediately replaced with a 9.9 outboard.

Re: Advice on what to do with my empty engine bay.

Yes this is the Newport. I can't see anyone ever taking the boat out in confidence in anything other than calm seas. I put new rigging on it and it is a great bay boat...but it still has soft decks,...

Advice on what to do with my empty engine bay.

A little background, then a couple questions:
