Agreed, microballons are typically used as filler in resins to thicken the viscosity and extend and / or reduce the weight of the resins but I have not seen them used in the Gelcoat that is the...

Big cosmetic bummer!

Seen similar spots arise often and fast, even in low humidity Montana. I suspect it is likely a fungus, perhaps artillery or shotgun fungus, e.g., spores of the genus...
