I ran in the same problem.

At first sudo add-apt-repository ppa:opencpn/opencpn does not seems to work.

you have to install:

sudo install software-properties-common

then it still does not...

My recommandation is the OpenPlotter version. Then you have Raspian (Debian jessy) OpenCPN and the OpenPlotter extra's, like wireless access point, VNC and SignalK server etc. etc.

You can try:

sudo apt install -f

and

sudo apt autoremove

I think you have to remove the failing files first.

There seems to be something conflicting with your earlier installations.

You now know how to install OpenCPN and the server setting right..

First remove the present OpenCPN via Synaptic click...

did you see OpenCPN with search in synaptic ?

did you thereafter in the terminal:

sudo apt update

and then

I'am sorry but this is the server address for the latest update.

Replace the word bdbcat with opencpn in the server adres an then it works and loads a complete version.

That does not work is my experience. You can better take synaptic and fill in the right server adres.

If you don't have synaptic install it. (sudo apt install synaptic)

Start synaptic in the...
