There is public transportation from LGA these days. An AirTrain to a subway. Will take some time to get to 79th street, but cost something like $7. Google map it.

Stu, you sail out of NYC?

I'd agree with giving 79th Street a try if you are making this into a visit.

(Better would be North Cove, but you're talking $50k a month!)

If flying into JFK (or even LGA), there are some places in Brooklyn that you could look in to. Gateway Marina is one.
