The following link shows that area with recent surface winds. I checked the same area several days ago and the wind pattern was similar.

The coordinates place the boat (at the time of the report...

That is a nice blog, good descriptions of travel in Mexico and in Rio Dulce.

The boat on the linked blog is a PDQ36 Catamaran.
